Rivers cult war: Wike imposes 24-hour curfew in affected areas

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has criticized the upsurge of cult activities, savagery and killings around abutting regions of the Okoro-nodu flyover in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

In a transmission Sunday night, Wike reviewed that the organization more than once cautioned misinformed adolescents that taking part in cultism is loathsome enemy of social conduct.

He promised that any individual who upsets harmony and security in Rivers areas will be managed.

“As part of measures to tackle this menace, Government has imposed a 24-hour total curfew for two weeks on the entire area along and around the Okoro-nodu flyover up to one-kilometer radius from Saint Emmanuel Anglican Church, Rumuokoro, extending to the Rumuodomaya Slaughter and Local Government daily market with effect from Monday 23rd November 2020.

Wike expressed that no type of exchanging, human or vehicular development would be permitted inside the referenced limited regions until additional notification.

Just staff and vehicles having a place with Julius Berger Nigeria Limited are absolved from the check in time.

Wike guided security offices to uphold severe consistence with the check in time, capture and arraign any individual, dealer or vehicle that disregards.

The lead representative cautioned that network chiefs permitting cultism and agitation to flourish in their area would be treated as partners and rebuffed.

He encouraged residents to report dubious clique acts, remembering social occasions and inceptions for or around their neighborhoods to law authorization.
