The progressing preliminary of a previous Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, over an asserted N2.2 billion misrepresentation charge favored against him by EFCC proceeded on February 4, 2019, with an indictment witness, Musiliu Obanikoro, a previous Minister of State for Defense, telling Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos that It is agonizing giving proof against Fayose.

Fayose was summoned alongside his organization, Spotless Investment Limited, on October 22, 2018, on a 11-tally charge verging on misrepresentation and tax evasion to the tune of over N2.2 billion. Sambo Dasuki (retd).

Obanikoro, under interrogation by advice for the second respondent, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, said he was affirming against Fayose “reluctantly”, including that they appreciated a decent relationship while they were the two individuals from PDP.

He stated: “I am giving this proof reluctantly. It’s excruciating for me to give proof against him.” He, notwithstanding, told the court that in spite of affirming against Fayose, he would not need their relationship pulverized. “I am attempting to limit myself from saying things that will additionally harm our relationship,” he included.

Whenever inquired as to whether he knew the wellspring of the cash he was providing for Fayose, he replied in the negative, saying, “I didn’t know the wellspring of this cash in light of the fact that the NSA did not let me know.”

At the last continuing, Obanikoro had described how he gave Fayose $5 million in real money from the imprest record of ONSA. While being interrogated by guidance for the principal respondent, Kanu Agabi, SAN, affirming as the fifth indictment said he was in the authority of the EFCC when he put forth his first expression. Whenever inquired as to whether he was a suspect under scrutiny when he put forth his expression, he replied in the positive, including that “I went through 21 days in the EFCC care”.
