Rennes goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy avoided the club’s preparation on Friday and was kept separate from the team crew to face Nimes on Sunday with speculation arising that he is set to move to Chelsea.
Chelsea is attempting to make sure about an arrangement accepted to be worth around £25 million for him.
Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard is quick to sign another shot-stopper in the wake of getting worried by the exhibitions of the club’s first-choice keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Mendy has supposedly consented to terms on a five-year deal Chelsea, yet both the Premier League giants and the French Ligue 1 side have been at loggerheads over a charge for the 28-year-old.
Nonetheless, Mendy was found in footage by a French TV station, TVR, leaving training on Friday close by his agent, Metro UK reports.
The Senegalese goalkeeper took no part in preparing and his appointee, Romain Salin, will rather be between the sticks when Rennes face Nimes on Sunday in their away Ligue 1 opener tie.
It is perceived that Rennes are requesting £25m for Mendy.
Mendy began his profession at Cherbourg and Stade de Reims before he moved to Rennes in 2018
